Sihweil Castle Trail
This 8-kilometer hiking trail begins on a secluded hill surrounded by olive trees, almonds and water springs in the village of Abwein. Hikers of the Sihweil Castle Trail witness many historical sites of ancient civilizations, including archaeological ruins dating back to the Roman, Byzantine and Crusader eras, and, of course the Sihweil Castle built of elaborate stones affixed with oil-mixed clay, using oil collected from farmers’ crops.
During the Ottoman rule, the Sihweil Castle was the center of rule in the area; the castle contains 4 oil wells, large rooms, a court and an execution site.
The trail is suitable for all age groups and has an easy-to-medium level of difficulty. Walking through the trail, hikers enjoy natural water springs, agricultural terraces and olive trees that fill the area.
The trail begins and ends at Rawabi City, where hikers would also gather ahead.
