Flora and Fauna

The lands of Palestine are known for their diverse topography, which reflects on the diversity of Palestine’s climate, plant and animal. Therefore, it contributes to promoting for tourism in Palestine, and is a direct reason of its integrated system of natural environments consisting of coasts, plains, mountains and desert areas.

It is estimated that there are about 2,700 wild plants species in Palestine, while the animal diversity in the West Bank and Gaza Strip goes around 30,904 species of invertebrates, birds, fish, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

The “Taj al-Sahel” area, which is rich in great plant and animal wealth,  is grounded on the principle and purpose of the protection of nature, on keeping away from everything that could cause any harm to nature, and on raising awareness on the protection of the environment and maintaining its compositions related to an integrated food chain to ensure a sustainable balance in life; a culture that should not be limited to a small number of people, but that must be expanded to include everyone. The mechanism of achieving this requires a creative method that is different in form, content and tools.

The nature of the "Taj al-Sahel” area is rich in a variety of animals and plants, including mammals such as foxes and wolves, reptiles such as snakes, a wide variety of birds, livestock, in addition to a wide variety of trees such as olive trees, hawthorn, the Terebinth tree (Pistacia palaestina), carob, oak, Aleppo pine, green Cupressus, the Sarcopoteriu/Poterium tree and forest plants such as sage, wild thyme, rosemary, germanders, the Onosma plant, mushrooms, and rockroses, bobby flowers and Chrysanths.

Regarding water resources in the area, “Taj al-Sahel” is rich in water springs that have both rain water and groundwater in some areas, forming fresh water springs. Some of the main water springs in the area are: Ein Ajjul, Ein Mushrifa, Ein al-Saqi, Ein Salaa, Ein Duqla, Ein al-Hamam, Ein Fleifla, Ein al-Dalub, Ein Dara, and Ein al-Majur. Farms containing various fruits and vegetables surround all of these water springs in the area.
