Birzeit’s Cultural Trail

This 9-kilometer trail begins at an altitude of 870 meters above sea level in the town of Birzeit, rich in olive trees and the picturesque natural sights. This trail suits all age groups as it is at an easy level. It includes agricultural, archaeological, historical, architectural and academic features, ranging from ancient to modern.
The Birzeit Cultural Trail includes several stops, the first of which is the Roman-Byzantine Khirbet Birzeit, containing the ruins of a church and an ancient guesthouse. The area overlooks the West Coast of Palestine, several remains and ruins are still standing in the area, including, a guesthouse building, which was once used by travelers and commercial caravans.
The trail then continues toward the Palestine Circus School, an academy that teaches the arts of circus and gymnastics, followed by a tour in the Old City, which involves a large number of touristic, heritage and cultural sites, including Beit al-Diyafa guesthouse, al-Baraka Bakery, House of Science, the Palestinian Museum (People's Museum), Hosh Jalsa, House of Tea and a photo museum.
During the tour of the Old City, hikers can rest in one of its restaurants, before completing the trail toward the springs and the agricultural area (Ein al-Hamam, and Ein Fleifla), then visiting the water farm “Habaq” (basil), the trail then continues towards Ein al-Daloub and Ghouta (Ein Mizrab), where hikers enjoy beautiful scenery and learn about organic farming; break-time could be postponed to take place in nature instead of earlier at a restaurant.
Finally, the last stop takes place at Palestinian artist Suleiman Mansour’s house, concluding the trail with a visit to Ein Al-Saqi and learning about agricultural products in that area.
The trail begins and ends at Rawabi City, where hikers would also gather ahead.
